The Psychopaths Lament

She felt no urge to cry and purge. The tears had left her alone. To never feel that lonesome surge. Staring with eyes as dry as a bone.

She felt like death with every breath. Said, with me there’s something wrong. I have never feel that gift of loss. Or to know you don’t belong.

I just am here and feel so clear. Feeling nothing, not even alone. Except contempt for failure to tear… With these eyes dry as a bone.Dennis Mantin

I Left

I left and said to myself I won’t be back.

Who was I trying to fool? “Me.”

Why do I do this to myself? Not a great mystery; a head scratcher at best.

However, nonetheless, a behavior I have repeatedly embraced throughout my life.

Perhaps I just needed a break from routine? And need to accept that without the drama of ” I won’t be back.”

The Mathematicians Brother

The Mathematicians brother was senseless… thick as a brick.

They couldn’t be related was the talk they laid on thick.

We watched them add the numbers to be certain they were sure.

That someone must have played around, the numbers far from pure.

It’s not a perfect science this family side of life.

They couldn’t blame the numbers; so they blamed the mathematicians wife.

The Rain Maker

She brings drama like rain in November.

Cold and harsh and unforgiving.

The daughter of a doctor she knows more than this country’s health boards and is attempting to refuse our child vaccinations…

This will be the last straw; the breaking point for the Rain Maker, as it is time to invite adults into the conversation to provide shelter from the storm.

The Observer

I said I was an observer. Was mainly watching me.

It wasn’t narcissistic. Was never sure how I would be.

It was purely evolution. Osmosis is how I was taught.

If it wasn’t fight or flight. It was prideful can’t be bought.

I said I was an observer, and now I’m watching you.

At least until I get bored which should only take a few.

I loved you for your beauty, at least what I could see.

I looked so long I missed the train to the places I should be.

A Brave New World

They said, “It’s now or never.”

The eyes said they weren’t so sure.

They wanted to be so clever…

Their motivations self centered pure.

The phone is the the new mirror.

Likes are the new hot.

Rejection is the new depression.

Communication the new rot.

It’s a brave new world my friends.

I don’t know where I fit.

I’m kinda liking the silence.

And the view from where I sit.
