October is upon us.
You knew it had to come.
The cool and dark will have her way.
Which is just alright with some.
I will say I’m going to miss them.
The long and hotter days.
But it’s the rhythm and the nights.
Where sweeter music plays.

I fear
My directness
Offers offense
They fear
Something spoken
Clear concise
Stay silent
Walk away
I’ve learned.

Here
Now
Watching
Bearing
Witness
Somewhere
Between
Disgusted
Disappointed
Mostly.

Someone I know well
Told a lie
With tears in their eyes
To a judge
Who believed their story
And I am always amazed
When this ploy works
For both its gall
And unquestioned validity.

It’s a big day here at the Mantin household! I have blood in my urine and a child custody hearing at 10 a.m.
I feel strangely calm and am pain free; however I feel it might be wise to make myself an appointment with a Doctor immediately after seeing the judge.

I am tired now
Drifting to that place where sleep is needed however there are miles to go.
This is where the mind plays tricks.
I am not only tired I am tired of being here in this state of… allowing myself to be here.
Such Tomfuckery this money chase!

The world we live in is spectacular for so many reasons, however the one I would like to focus on now is the overall general malaise that the people of today have towards honest communications.
My daughter was on a schoolbus for 2 hours in what should have been a 25 minutes trip. I called when the bus was 48 minutes late and told she would be there in 10. When she was 1 hour late I was told another 15… And still it took another 20…
I enquired as to why they couldn’t communicate honestly using one of my favorite phrases, “Don’t piss down my back and tell me its raining… just tell me how late the bus will be.” Which might have caused a bit of upset but sometimes life is like that.

The bicycle tire thief took pause from his busy day to look me over…
He asked me something designed to ‘size me up’ and feeling obliged to not disappoint, I ignored him and continued walking; which predictably caused him to say something slanderous.
I asked him, “So you’re a tough guy?”
“Yeah, I’m a tough guy.” He said.
The thing about tough guys is they rarely advertise.

Things have changed in subtle ways where youth and that strange desire for more and beautiful has faded into something more serious and sinister…
Now it’s solitude and peace of mind I Desire…
