The Abyss

They said if I stared long enough into that haunting dark abyss.

That I could break the darkness and see light, I couldn’t miss.

You see, I have this peace of mind, and when I close my eyes.

I’ve made friends with the darkness; to my horror and surprise!

Alone On The Bus

Cutting through the darkness of King Street West in the 3a.m. alone with no other passengers, on my way to work is peaceful.

It’s Monday, and a quartet of workers just arrived at Bathurst. They seem melancholy.

A young man reeking of pot just got on in the entertainment district…

And the day begins for some and ends for others.

The Measure

She said she took the measure. But it came a little short.

It sounded much like confidence. Without the backing or support.

You know I had the warning. It was right there on my tongue.

But she wasn’t much on listening. So, no words were spoke or sung.

I was in the mood for silence . You could say all words were moot.

And she had that look in her eyes. If she had a gun, she’d shoot.

Sometimes, it’s just easier to turn and walk away.

To be the bigger person and get to live another day.

Yonder Sky

There was something in the water.

Not icecubes or alcohol.

Was something in the air last night.

Felt like Rome before the fall.

There were whispers in the shadows.

And fear upon the vine.

I checked the beach for trespass.

Was just you that crossed the line.

The stars were out in fury.

Burning bright in yonder sky.

I had so much to tell you once.

That time has passed us by.

The Short Thinkers

There is a time in the future.

But I swear I don’t know when.

That the screamers and the activists.

Will pause and stop, and then…

Reflect upon a future.

That has no kids or men.

In the age of the short thinkers.

We won’t see their likes again!

The Fixer

They took me to the fixer.

She said, “Your choice is yours to choose.”

“Avoid spirits and elixir?”

“You don’t want to light that fuse.”

The Fixer is Cameleon.

Shifting mists amidst the smoke.

But don’t laugh at her comedian.

Because he can’t take a joke.

I’m learning things like politics.

False information and throw a curve.

I ran it by the fixer.

But she’s on her last nerve.

They yelled, “Take me to your leader!”

And they all looked at me.

The Fixer packed up for the coast.

Needs a vacation by the sea.

Chorus:

Thet took me to the fixer.

They said I couldn’t lose.

She said, “You are so sick, Sir!”

Now, the fixer has the blues.

Fetal

I was lying in the fetal.

Lost in thoughts I shouldn’t show.

I was wondering what the world was now.

So much more than I could know.

I still hear all their anger.

So much love they say they lost.

I’m not saying I don’t feel for them.

But their brains have all been tossed.

They’ve been drinking into morning’s.

And the months have turned to years.

I think that I should get up now.

Such a slippery slope, those tears.

Destruction Destroy

Destruction of society.

They seemed to have a plan.

Bringing down the patriarchy.

Can’t say that I’m a fan.

There is something set in motion.

There’s a crash that’s going to bend.

All that happy, joyful cheering.

All that smiling is going to end.

Just be careful what you pray for.

Just in case your dreams come true.

There is something fast approaching

I don’t think you’ll like this new.

Tapping In

I was tapping in, to something…

There was music in the air.

No one else was hearing anything.

They tapped out on the chair.

There was no win in winning.

Just a shot at living life.

An experience on world spinning.

I joined that club without a wife.

There’s no moral to the story.

There’s a chance that things will change.

Just riding out the glory.

With a taste for good and strange.
