Psychological

The pain is psychological, like the pleasure in my head.

The wars were pathological and replaced the living with the dead.

Said you wanted peace. But I think that you want more.

Cause peace is just a lease if you don’t make for war.

It is all in preparation. Like the proverbs wisdom tell.

It’s just a sad, sad situation. To not know heaven here from hell.

Contraire

The Sunday rains came early.

Damp Sidewalks Saturday night.

The stylish got out umbrellas.

To see the brawl tween left and right.

The jabs that started early.

Are more for show, dramatic flair.

The internet is all the rage.

With so much noise so contraire.

There’s a shortage here on blue dye.

And the one that makes hair green.

All the battle plans have strategies.

That don’t offend or seem too mean.

I went home and locked the castle.

In fact, I never left the moat.

I just fired up the drawbridge.

And just let those voices shout.

Premonition

“Was the dream a premonition?“

Out of breath and full of sweat.

In the dark interpretation.

But she hasn’t got that yet.

I was nothing short of subtle.

A smile, a nod, a giggle laugh.

I wanted love and not forgiveness.

But we don’t get to choose our path.

Oh, such anger in that beauty!

“Why am I cut off from life?”

I knew I should have held my answer.

“Because you’re someone else’s wife.”

The Movie

The movie has no soundtrack.

That was playing in my head.

The theme was for the living.

The plot was for the dead.

It’s a story of hereafter.

Like the myths a child’s told.

Equal portions tears and laughter.

You get the girl but not the gold.

In Silent Shifting Shade.

July, it overtook us.

Plans were lost where once hope stayed.

The boredom struggled with the heat.

In silent shifting shade.

The summers sun was merciless.

Green grass in no wind swayed.

The band put down their instruments.

In silent shifting shade.

The spirit world was busy.

As the minions softly prayed.

They sit there counting blessings…

In the silent shifting shade.

Infinity

I’ve never been married…

Technically.

I’m 64 going on infinity.

I used to be a romantic until life and poor choices obliterated that notion. I wasn’t looking for this. It’s like that saying, “Life is what happens when you are making other plans.”

She is younger than I am and so easy to be around. It’s not about love in that puppy dog, I can’t live without you or breathe when you’re around sort of thing. It’s more like I really love being with her.

If I marry it will only be once.
