God Is Watching

I fear if God is watching then he must be plenty bored.

Not much new is going on, still driving that old Ford.

The bums are still out hangin and the drunks are down and out.

The lovers have all gone inside and the agnostics have their doubt.

The investors lost their money and the leaves are turning brown.

The church it seems so empty and that sun is going down.

Cul-de-sac

She’s been quiet in the suburbs; walks a dog on cul-de-sac.

She’s getting wise on wine and proverbs; and she’s not coming back.

There’s a smile on my face now; I’m afraid its here to stay.

The cul-de-sac goes round and round; so quiet far away.

Thunder Cove

The thunder rolled on night sky.

The lighting cleared the air.

We just layed there sleeping.

Somehow, with whom, somewhere.

We left with moon and stars in sky.

To the place past Thunder Cove

In my dreams, I heard of distant love

And on to home we drove.

The Chaos Queen

It is s a lofty title, competitions an all time high.

The Chaos Queen is crowned tonight at the corner of high and dry.

My horse is in the running. No shackles are on her toes.

She will lead from wire to wire, and then lose it by a nose.

She will claim a great injustice, policemen will be called.

The crowd will be disjointed with most feelings left appalled.

The winner will be all smiles with a twinkle in her eyes.

The Chaos Queen will wear her crown made to fit most any size.

The Yellow Bus

The yellow bus is shaking, the steps are worn down.

The actors dreams forsaking, all except our featured clown.

There’s a a sadness to his armor and a stiffness to his smile.

He is on the yellow bus now and will be for a while.

Under makeup there’s a human; who wonders, ‘Who am I?’

No one gives an answer and the bus just drives on by.

It’s a long road if we’re lucky and a short one if we’re not.

The clown is in his mind now, where all battles now are fought.

For What?

When I was very young I noticed a trait in certain humans that confused me as to why they would do certain things…

My reaction to this behavior has always been fairly consistent: I would bewilderingly ask why? What was the gain? You destroyed your relationship with me for what? So little…

Yesterday I read a Dostoyovski quote that pretty much sums it up.

“Your worst sin is that you destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing. “

Perfect.

A Certainty?

Writers and deep thinkers like Herman Hesse propose that if we see something in human behavior that we don’t like… Then we are observing something about ourselves that we find offensive.

I will admit that there is a possibility of this; however a certainty?

Quite often I see behavior in people that can be nothing short of mental illness. The fact that I don’t appreciate the finer details of insanity is not an indication of my own illness.

I’m sure I could convince Mr Hesse to the errors of his ways if he were still among us; however I have little willingness to educate those who keep banging this drum of supposed certainty.

Their Smiles

Their smiles came so easy. I was awestruck… just amazed!

To wonder what it must be like to be feeling that unfazed.

To grow up with a knowing trust; that you’ll never be let down.

That someone’s looking out for you, and is here and not left town.

I felt I shouldn’t warn them of their fates so sure to come.

Cause I kinda like their happy talk, You know it really works for some.

So I smiled insincerely, tried it on, felt like a fool.

I’ll just stick to what I know, in the deep end of the pool.

Crow Piss

Tis early here at crow piss; its darkest before the dawn.

Been dreaming about her beauty, and a smile she had on.

Time is somehow fleeting, on a race to God knows where.

I’m just naked in the shadows, with a calm yet distant stare.

Might sound like I’m complaining, I’m just searching for more sleep.

There’s a laughter in the distance; followed by a gentle weep.
