The leafs are falling now.

When I was a toddler, before memory… I used to walk here with Poppy Ross. Poppy was older then and they said I would follow the old man, as they called him, everywhere and anywhere.

This is where I envision retirement…

Where the previous day my girl danced for joy… Now there’s tears.

I was told by the vet that Victoria was a bad idea for my elderly cat.

I watch her struggle with her emotions She knows I am giving her the straight goods and that I love her and I want her to have a dog.But in her mind it isn’t just a dog; it’s Victoria…

I made a mistake showing her this photo , however… just a taste of disappointment in itself is at the very least a preperation for life?

She said, “You’re very obstreperous.”

I answered, “That’s easy for you to say.”

She came back, “You don’t know what that means, do you?”

“Obviously you’re the smart one here, I’m just not as comfortable with being as strepitous as you is all.”

Midnight on a Wednesday, it’s quiet and hours before I sleep… I’ve rarely been this tired.

I remember nothing about the sleep except using the bathroom and waking up without the alarm.

It’s another gorgeous October day and life is in full bloom! I see Jason walking down Queen Street in his sock feet.

He grunts hello and in the aftermath…

I realize I am the lucky one.

The fall, the hit, quietly concussed…

He came so close to death or bust.

Miracles they said, oh how they fussed.

Never quite the same, in God we trust.

Reframed and shattered by the fall.

A perspective changed or not at all.

Strange the art that some do call.

Or a concussed mess meant to appall?

I won the argument!

She relented and said I was right…

The age of miracles might be upon us?

Or maybe I am learning to splain myself better?

I’m leaning towards miracle.
