Another Day on Earth

Ducks and Swans are huddled together On the banks of Grenadier Pond seeking warmth waiting for the sun… It’s been a long night.

I managed 7 hours sleep in the comfort of comforters and pillows and woke rested; “Thank you God!”

The fears of the pandemic are rising forth, onwards and up and the world awaits leadership among rising costs of toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Another day on planet earth has begun.

The Commission

Someone has asked me to paint something on commission: which is the first time I’ve said yes to such a request.

This fear is apparently in the rearview!

I appreciate something new and the chance to fail is strangely uplifting.

To Quote Maya Angelou: You can’t use up creativity. The more you use the more you have.

The Walk Away

I have perfected the walk away; and I have her to thank for this this stride. This gait of Confident certainty created. She loathes this thing that I’ve become. A Tyrant who seldom whispers yes… Firm boundaries of NO!

Her Frankenstein! The Monster she can’t control, birthed from kindness and Love. Stepped on and abused, mistaking kindness for weakness.

The hollow sound of footsteps walking away, forever transformed.

Thank you Darling.

Season of the Mud

First came the cold, raw and unrelenting. Seemingly spawned from some invisible force with an apparent passion for misery.

This was followed by the sun with its warmth and healing, stretching forth across the land bringing hope and joyous yelps!

Welcome to the season of the mud and the thaw…

The Trauma of the Drama

Perhaps it had something to do with International Women’s Day!

Perhaps it had to do with the consumption of to much alcohol.

Maybe the 2 were meshed and intertwined which is what I suspected, regardless it isn’t every day you see a 100 pound woman pick a fight with a 250 pound fit athletic 30 year old man for having his feet in the isle of the streetcar.

She yelled and screamed something about disrespect until luckily for all concerned another woman stood up and said to the banterer. “I think you should leave him alone as your judgment might be clouded right now.” And the woman who felt disrespected left.

Happy International Womans Day! My daughter texted me just before I fell asleep to let me know that she loved me.

Enthusiasms

The walls are high and strong, built with childish enthusiasms which is understandable considering what they protect and no one has told you…

The sun broke through the other day and I was there to witness the event and more than just a little light broke through.

It takes time to learn how to relax. Rome wasn’t built in a day and apparently neither were you.

That Hobo Smell

We were talking about ‘Parasite’ which she saw 4 times and she said, “I felt terrible about them being put down for how they smelled. “

I had recently talked to a woman who’s ex lived in a basement apartment and one of his acquaintances told him he smelled of basement… which I shared with her and added, “The homeless definitely have that hum.”

She said, “That Hobo smell.”

“Yes… and a real bums eye for fashion to quote Gord Downy.”

All the Writer’s

The ideas all went silent. All the writer’s are asleep.

The tongues are all about restraint, for the secrets we can keep.

The wise men are all now crazy. And the beggars found a home.

The sun is setting in the east and I never more will roam.

It’s all over but the crying and I’m broken up inside.

There was so much more I had to see but I’m falling with the tide.

The fights are all but over and I’m close to letting go.

The past is here and in between and love is all I know.
