The Last Toy

I am tired of buying plastic toys and stuffed smiley faced animals…

She’s 8 and we are traveling to pick up the final one; an Egyptian Pyramid with secret doors and tunnels, scorpions, gold and diamonds.

I’ve told her; knowing full well, like she does that I’m so full of it and I love the sound of my own complaining voice.

An Eminently Untidy Undertaking

John Galsworthy talked about the beginnings and endings of human endeavors in this  manner; an eminent untidyness.

Writing Novel’s.

Voyages.

Demolishing Bridges.

Building Houses.

I don’t know if I agree.

I have never actually built a house or destroyed a bridge, however the last Voyage I completed I felt such an incredible satisfaction that I’ve not had the desire to leave home since.

Also I am editing the only novel I will ever write and feel more elated every day as this decades long journey comes to a conclusion.

Maybe it’s death thats the untidyness Galsworthy spoke of?

Moisture

It’s cooler on the shady side of the street where I am. The lady on the radio said zero humidity for the next few days.

The butt picker is in top form, stooping and selecting the juiciest moist discards in front of the laundromat flicked from the participants of the suicide long game.

With no regard for health or pandemic he lights and sucks, feeding that addiction I remember like a distant movie with actors I don’t recall.

Coffee is the only addiction I currently feed. It’s been this way for a while now. A man collecting beer cans passes by me at the cafe and I think of poorer times in a not so distant past and realize, but for the grace of God, there go I.

And my mind drifts to childhood… long ago and far away.

Early

The early day heat is cool and fresh… The air is quiet belying the drama of the night before.

I have no recollections of my dreamworld except for that I went far somewhere somehow.

I haven’t seen her in 2 weeks and I am traveling now to get her and this is the excitement of the day.

People whose names I don’t know and do have mentioned they haven’t seen her in a while…

I say she’s with her mother and I try to see the positive of such arrangements; which I haven’t but it’s early.

The Mystery

The questions they are many.

The answers are so few.

I couldn’t think of any.

Dad why’s the sky so blue.

I decided just to listen.

The breathe that sound within.

No need to make decision.

The finish line read begin.

It’s clear now see the circle

Spiraling round and round.

That sky now sure looks purple.

Nothing lost and nothing found.

We will keep on looking.

Cause that is what we do.

The end the final booking.

The mystery is the clue.
