Sunning

There was blame, and she was blaming.

Attachments, names, and she was naming.

Sounded lame, I was reframing.

So much shame when we start shaming.

I said, “Makes no sense, so please hold on.”

I took some light, on no facts shone.

With no past tense, and she was gone.

She jumped the fence, and she was gone.

I took it hard, no, I’m just cunning.

I hit the road, looked both ways running.

Most lies are cold and twice as stunning.

Warm my bones on beaches sunning.

Jonesing For a Fix

3a.m. on a Wednesday.

All alone on a streetcar crossing town.

Just me and a faceless driver.

There is no one else to bring down.

I am alone but never lonely.

Long ago, I found the mix.

I haven’t painted now in over a year.

I think I’m Jonesing for a fix.

The Worry

The sun returned with a vengeance.

The cold air was hanging on.

The headmaster took attendance.

Appeared that one of us was gone.

Some prayed for her safe passage.

Some cried for her return.

There was no meaning or no message.

Just a look of harsh concern.

There was a shuffle in the hallway.

And some movement at the door.

She said, “I’m late, but I’m ok.”

And she’s not missing anymore.

Smoke

She came out of the smoke…

It was always the same.

Beauty flawed.

I couldn’t get enough. So it couldn’t last.

It’s odd how we find the way. The strength.

I left her there. It’s what she wanted.

I see her in my dreams. Always the same.

Beauty flawed. She comes out of the smoke…
