The Odyssey of Her

I knew there was a story and how the story goes.

With fragments all so shattered in the land of never knows.

Has no structure or beginnings but it’s all from Dad and Mom.

And steeped in disappointment, she’s banging on that drum.

All bitter with it’s rage behind a mask of smile.

She needed me to listen, I couldn’t spare the while.

I sometimes search my heart, would I repeat this thing I did?

It goes to yes each every time, if only for the kid.Dennis Mantin

Beauty Fiction

I loved her for her beauty.

She was crazy, not for me.

I couldn’t fix that business,

From nineteen eighty-three.

Never said she danced with demons.

There were monsters in her head.

We don’t know Myth from fiction.

So we dance with lies instead.

She sure is nice to look at,

Maybe that’s the curse.

I’ve settled on alone for beauty

It couldn’t be much worse.

Alone

It started on a Sunday, this idea I’m alone.

No one seemed to notice, all were busy on the phone.

I decided not to fight it, no sense in tempting fate.

Intimacy lacked sincerity, with conversation all debate.

She said that she found someone, I laughed meant as a grin.

I shouldn’t be so happy, but this loss feels like a win.Dennis Mantin

This is Eden

This is Eden… in this world of radiance. Shimmer shifts of visionary transformations.

It’s in God’s nature; and in the sun at the horizons; and in the awe and in the spirit of transitory metaphorical artists; that’s where we are.

Be still and breathe and watch and listen.

Listen… for words will fall short here.Dennis Mantin

Deception River

There’s a place called Deception River.

They don’t say that anymore.

It’s cold there in the wintertime.

Waters frozen to the shore.

It rises there at midnight.

Sometimes with the sun.

Rise and falling past that farm.

Where I still miss someone.

I seldom ever go there.

It’s where I learned to swim.

Its where they tried to drown me.

Still far but growing dim.

Metaphor Amor

Her legs went on forever.

Her eyes were pools unclear.

Didn’t mean to hit me in the balls.

I bought her shots and beer.

Her legs went on forever.

I knew she’d be unkind.

I couldn’t find the words to say.

So I let her read my mind.

Her legs went on forever

I tried so hard to please

She helped me get to know myself

Helped me off my knees.

I never got to thank her

Kind words for her to tell

That was many moons ago

My memories not so well.

4a.m on a Tuesday

It’s 4a.m. on a Tuesday.

I’m driving not to you.

It’s quiet and it’s peaceful.

No drama coming through.

I left you at the airport.

Our eyes were clear and dry.

It feels like it’s over.

I’ll walk and watch you fly.

The Music

It’s rhythmic and it’s catchy and will make the stoners dance. It gives hope to the hopeless, makes them feels there’s a chance.

It comes from somewhere mysterious, it’s source I’m not sure; and its rumored from intentions that might be far from pure.

It’s quiet and its Sunday and the band has all left town. Their all nursing headaches and the weapons are laid down.

Physical and Spiritual

The physical world is easy because our senses tell us that this is real.

The spiritual not so much.

The financial is truly what’s easy to meditate on. The mental is a toss up dependent on the individual or moment. The emotional is dominant in the mental world and just as flawed. These are the 5 features that make up this human experience.

The physical world of man made technology and innovation has separated us from the spiritual, but the spiritual world is there, connecting and binding it all…
