Fate

In the wind…

Under dark blue skies.

Beneath the full yellow moon.

He wipes his hands of the past in the rain.

There will be no peace here.

No, no redemption.

Just fate.

In the wind..

Until the sleep will come.

And nightmares turn to dreams.

Where the sunrise warms their spirits.

And still no talk of God or grace.

Here in this earthly place.

In the wind…

The Kindness

There was a kindness in her eyes and smile.

That felt quite insincere.

I didn’t care or give a damn.

My intentions were made clear.

She sure was someone’s sister.

And in the spotlight of that fame.

She seemed to be in a giving mood.

So I took and felt the shame.

There was danger in the darkness.

Not so much at light of day.

There was no silence and those footsteps.

And I watched her walk away.

10

She is 10 now…

There’s so much going here but it probably looks like we are all just standing still.

Her favorite teacher is leaving her school and she cried and told me…

“She’s more than a teacher for me; she is like a mother too. I don’t get to see my mother. My mother is not dead but she might as well be.”

She’s at the beginning of puberty and sex education at school is bringing me lots of questions because “I’m not putting up my hand and embarrassing myself… no way!”

I am in the middle of refinancing and they are trying to teach an old dog new tricks.

We are friends and family and getting by and there is love and respect and this is what I signed up for!

Thank you God!

A Place Where Nothing Happens…

Found this place where nothing happens… except the noise and the pain.

Between the the sunsets and the first light. Where all the sound is complain.

And it’s been going on forever. Since the apple and our Eve.

Then they told the tale of the flood. Where you need faith to believe.

I’ve been looking for something better. But my search is all but gone.

I’m going to buy some headphones. And just leave some Dylan on.

Our Monster

Our Monster, she has green eyes. Her hair is bloodshot red.

I thought I couldn’t get more tired. But I got her instead.

There are mysteries in the heavens. But here it’s bought and sold.

Our Monster she’s been spinning tales into silver, gems and gold.

But the shelf life has expired. All her power spent and gone.

Our Monster had her visit here. Our Monster she moved on.

The Empire Maker

The Empire Maker warms his feet. Seems content there by the fire.

His thoughts are now in the street, though he’s aiming for just higher.

He is speaking now in quiet tones. They take in every word.

Nothing left to chances, no lines that will be blurred.

Their actions will be final and break the quiet of the night.

By the river, in the shadows, just before the Sabbath light.

Some had plans that just took to long. In their minds to kill a king.

Took the time to talk to much and the hell that that can bring.

Now there’s nothing but that fire, and some memories and smoke.

The story tellers have their myths and jokers have a joke.

The wise man has his silence and the peace that that can bring.

In the valley of the blind where the one eyed man is king.
